DeLoach Farms is a family farm, and it's been that way since 1820 when my family first settled on the banks of Kelly Creek in Shelby county. There is no Inc. behind our name, but there are some pretty great people I would like to introduce you to. This is me with my parents John and Kate DeLoach. My dad was only 13 when his Granddaddy Frank passed away and he took over most of the day to day work on the farm. You can see our farm and hear some of our story on our You Tube video:
In 2018 we were named the Alabama Farm of Distinction and my dad was honored as the Alabama Farmer of the Year. Judges selected our farm based on our commitment to building a sustainable business grounded in sound management and environmental practice and an innovative approach to farming and stewardship.
My parents have taught me to love and care for our land and to take care of our community. When my spring semester at Troy University unexpectedly went online, I had an opportunity to put those lessons into practice by creating this produce delivery service. I believe we can do great things when the community comes together to support their local family farms and the famers support their community. Over the coming weeks and months, I will be sharing more about what we are doing to help feed those in need in our community, as well as our commitment to good environmental stewardship. I'll also introduce you to the other members of our team here at DeLoach Farms, including more of the family. In the meantime, we are committed to giving our customers a great value, excellent service, and the same just picked farm-to-table experience we enjoy here on the farm.
